It's not long since the first historic stage of the WPT National Italy in Saint-Vincent casino has been completed. There's a couple in italian poker that really shined in this weekend in Valle d'Aosta: Simone Ferretti, who placed 3rd in the Main Event, and Giorgia Tabet, winner of the Side Event.
The 21st of May the first stage of the WPT National, the new series of poker tournament here in Italy that has actually taken place of the "old" and beloved Poker Grand Prix, has seen its conclusion. There is who won and rejoiced and who went back home without even a consolation prize. For sure there is a couple who has a lot to party about these days, for the greats results they got in this weekend: we are talking about Simone Ferretti and the always beautiful Giorgia Tabet.
In the Main Event, which by the way enlisted 201 participants, the two got at some time at the same table, but Simone had to witness his girl waving goodbye after a hand against Vincenzo Natale. At that point 'Ferros' found himself alone and went straight to the final tv table. At the end of day 3 he grabbed the chipcount leadership from Claudio Rinaldi and he found himself chipleader at the Final Table with more than 800k chips. A coinflip could have granted him an even larger chiplead, but the coin landed on the wrong side and so he had to fight, finishing third in the end for a very good prize of 31.270€.
Meanwhile Giorgia didn't sit, so to speak, with idle hands. Busted from the Main, she entered the biggest Side Event available, the one with a buy-in of 660 euros. The participants were 117 in total and Giorgia Tabet was able to get to the final table and to ship a first prize of more than 18.000 euros. On the podium, also Edoardo Mancino and Massimo Caldera, who had to give way and they surely didn't do that for gallantry. The couple brings back then home over 49 thousands euros and can be therefore very satisfied of this weekend in Valle d'Aosta.
After all, Simone and Giorgia are by now a very well known couple and appreciated around the poker live scene. Are they trying to attempt the "prestige" of another celebrity couple like Massimiliano Martinez and Carla Solinas? For sure, it is very interesting and nice to see these couples at the tables, the italian response to famous international poker couples like Marco Traniello and Jennifer Harman. Because it is nice to share the same passion, and when the two of you win together so much money it is even better...
