Poste Italiane withdraws from the world of online gaming

Poste Italiane

Poste Italiane

Poste Italiane abandons the idea of entering the world of online gaming. This is the striking news that lately is confirming the rumours that were well in time anticipating this withdraw. The licence, costed €350.000 will be put on sale.

At the moment there is no official statement from the company, but the reason beyond this decision looks to be many.

First of all, the big delay the new gaming licenses have actually become effective with, due to Stanleybet appeal. Poste Italiane, who among all the licensed companies had been the first buyer, has been therefore forced to postpone its projects to an undefined date. The first doubts about the possible withdrawal were born when, after the appeal was over, all other companies - including Mondadori - started out frantic manoeuvers to get ready to enter the market. Poste Italiane, on the other hand, stood still.

To this factor, that of course might have had an impact on the company's investment plans, one shall add the frequent media attacks who targeted the company from the very moment they acquired the gaming licence. With Corriere della Sera on the warpath, Poste Italiane might have tought not to expose itself to the numerous shots made by the press that, inevitably, were damaging its public reputation.

Currently Poste Italiane is looking for a buyer to try and recoup, at least partially, the initial investment of €350.000 they bought the first licence with. Besides this loss, Poste will be forced to give up a market that, at the moment, still looks very promising to involved companies, thanks to the fresh air represented by Cash game Poker and Online Casinos.
